About us
Conscious Gardening
Conscious design means being intentional about choosing the right plant for the right place. I consider ease of maintenance, rate of growth, drought tolerance and disease resistance while combining native and introduced non-invasive plants. The goal is to create planting arrangements that attract birds, butterflies and beneficial pollinator insects. This integrative approach combines sustainability with aesthetic interest.
With an ever changing climate it is more important now than ever before to provide eco-friendly landscapes.
Hello!
I’m molly sutton.
Growing up in my parents gardens in Missoula, Montana sparked a passion early on. After receiving a Bachelors degree in Botany from Weber State University in 2012, my work pursuits have included; working for the Forest Service, hydroponic lettuce in the Tetons and botanical survey for fisheries biology. Eventually I moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts and worked as a fine gardener in large estate gardens.
Gardening and plant care has been my biggest joy yet. I love working outside and intimately getting to know gardens and the dynamics throughout the growing season.
With an eye for design and a background in plant science this is where it all came together. Getting to create beauty for others is the best job ever. I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.

Jacob Biel
Project Lead-Drip Irrigation-Gardener
Jacob is originally from Florida’s Space Coast and fell in love with gardening in the state’s long, warm growing season. After graduating with a degree in environmental science from the University of South Florida, he spent a season in Minneapolis, Minnesota working as a fine gardener and growing accustom to the challenges of gardening in a cooler climate. Jacob originally fell in love with Missoula after serving with the Montana Conservation Corps here in 2019, and he was able to return in 2022 for an ecological technician position with the University of Montana. Last year, Jacob returned to fine gardening with the goal of blending healthy native ecosystems and beautiful garden design.

Alyssa Kennemer
Office Admin; Gardener
I grew up with a dad who loved gardening. Every year we would patiently wait for the peonies to bloom so we could both exclaim it was the best smell in the world. When he passed away, I watched my mom tend to his garden & discover her own joy in a season’s growth. I feel honored to be working in gardens — they are what make a home.
Before moving back to Missoula in 2023, I was a farmer and cook in the Mission Valley for 5 years. I have a degree in Studio Art from Knox College. When not growing things, I am exploring the natural world, experimenting with natural dyes and dancing, always. -

In Memoriam:
Josie grew up in the mountains and flower fields of Montana. An herbalist by training she was forever in tune with the plants and holistic components around her.
We will honor the gardens spaces that we shared with her and enjoy every bloom she helped create.
Be free our little moon-flower. We miss you.
